UPDATED MASK POLICY – EFFECTIVE MAY 25
A message from the owner (regarding updated mask policy):
On May 14, the CDC announced that all people that are fully vaccinated can remove their masks (with the exception of very crowded places) resume life as normal. I, like many business owners large and small that have tried to follow CDC compliance for the past 14 months since the beginning of the pandemic, was taken very off guard.
Initially I was reluctant to change anything with the wearing of masks within LP. How would I know who is vaccinated? I know for a fact that several staff members are vaccinated because they told me, not because I asked.
Then mass retailers and major grocery chains started letting people in without masks, relying on the honor system. I can say that I am fully vaccinated, as is my husband, as are all of my extended family that is old enough to receive the vaccine, and all of my closest friends. Conflicted, I reached out to each and every one of my staff members and trainers, to get their opinions. Several told me they were vaccinated or in process between the first and second. All were in favor of following CDC guidelines.
So, as of Tuesday, May 25th, following CDC recommended guidelines, I am relaxing the mask policy for all staff, trainers, and 2 legged clients that are fully vaccinated. So if you are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, you do not need to wear a mask inside at LP. If you are not fully vaccinated, you must wear a mask.
My staff and I will not ask you for proof of vaccine. We trust you are truthful with us as we strive to be transparent with you. We are trusting you to make the best decision for yourself and us and respect the policy that keeps the people caring for your pets safe.
I can say with complete honesty this has been a struggle, as I really try to do the right thing. But as was said in our discussions to me, “You have done everything that the CDC said since March 2020, why are you doing it differently now?” That staff member was right.
Here is to looking at some smiling faces again for those that are vaccinated.
All of the best,
